Snoring Remedies that Work - 3 Top Ways to Beat Snoring
Here are 3 things you need to do to give you the best chance of giving snoring the boot:-
1. Lose the Fat!
Obese people are at a higher risk of snoring. Why? Simple. Because excess fat, particularly around your neck, puts pressure on the airways and so restricts them. This results in turbulence when you breathe, causing the soft tissue to vibrate, producing the snoring sounds we all know and love!
2. A Healthy Lifestyle
This is important, not just as a snoring remedy, but also as an overall health improvement plan. Ensure you only eat healthy, balanced meals.
Try to avoid alcohol. And, of course, start a daily exercise program and stick with it.
3. Avoid Meals and Alcohol Before Bedtime
Eating just before going to bed is a bad idea for a potential snorer. This is because of the pressure that the ingested food puts on your diaphragm, causing it too have to work harder, thus causing snoring.
Aim to have your last meal at least 3 hours before you go to bed, to give your food time to digest.
If you do decide to reduce alcohol rather than avoid it altogether, make sure you don't drink prior to going to bed at night.
Alcohol can depress your central nervous system, resulting in the muscles in your jaw and throat becoming relaxed and so blocking your airways. This results in snoring.
The above snoring remedies will work if you stick to them religiously.
But, there are other ways to stop snoring at night and these can be used in conjunction with the three remedies discussed above for extra assurance...
3 More Snoring Remedies That Work
Here are even more snoring remedies that work for many snoring victims:-
1. Stop Snoring Devices
Many sufferers find that using stop snoring devices can be effective. These are things like snore pillows, chin straps, nasal strips, and dental mouthpieces, etc.
2. Change Your Sleeping Position
One of the snoring remedies that can work well, if you can do it, is to change the position you tend to sleep in, especially where you sleep on your back. You can get special pillows that force you to sleep on your side.
Or you can get a device that fastens around you middle that does the same. You would need these types of devices because you can't control your position whilst you're asleep.
3. Steam Vaporizers
If you suffer from long term nasal congestion, or nasal allergies, which cause your snoring, you can utilize a steam vaporizer. This helps to open your airways up and so reduce your snoring.

the natural remedies and several stop snoring devices are said to be very effective for mild to moderate snorers. I got friends with tennis ball sewed on their back of the night dresses which pushes them to sleep on their sides rather on their back. nice tips here, voted useful.
Voted up, useful, and awesome. I don't snore, but my boyfriend sure does! It's definitely an ongoing issue that affects how *I* feel all day. He, however, seems to sleep like a baby (figures!) Well, I knew about the losing weight thing, and staying healthy can't hurt anything, but wasn't aware of the pressure placed on the diaphragm if you've eaten before bedtime. That's a new one to try, so thank you very much. And I love your style of writing! Thanks.
Some experts say that people snore because of some sort of obstruction to their airway. Air could come in the mouth, and when the tongue obstructs the way, that might also cause someone to snor. That's why it's advisable to sleep on your side if you're a snorer. Though I have to find out more supporting medical evidence for that matter. Great hub! It caught my attention because my dad is a snorer. Lol. Voted up!

Several very good tips here! But I think this area, especially the apnea situation, needs much more research to better solve the problem for so many people. There are lots of aids out there, but why not 'cure' it?
Thanks for a great hub!
